Woodville

Woodville correspondent Our High Noon, a Waipa candidate, again took the eye at Woodville yesterday morning as he prepared for the $17,500 Late Developers Classic tomorrow. Danny Magee looked best of those engaged at the Manawatu Hunt meeting. Most work took place on the inside grass, which was soft. Our High Noon, and Diamantino strode over 1000 m in 1:2.1, the last 600 m in 37.65. Our High Noon has done well since his easy Trentham win and will be ridden by Phillip Mercer. Di-

amantino will accompany Our High Noon north but is not racing until next week. Danny Magee and Hot Cakes took 1:6.2 for 1000 m, the last 600 m in 395. Danny Magee is a last-start Trentham winner and will be hard to beat in the Carnarvon Handicap at Awapuni. Noel Harris rides him, while Ross Elliot is on his stablemate, Hot Cakes, in the same race. Hot Cakes disappointed at Trentham, but both her wins have been at Awapuni. King Aussie and Lunar Trail did well over 1000 m in 1:3.8, the last 600 m in 37.3. King Aussie has his final lead-up to the Taumarunui Cup in the Winter Cup Trial at Awapuni, while Lunar Trail will give his trainer,

John Harris, a strong secondstring in next week’s feature race. No Value and Garabaldi galloped 1200 m in 1:23.2, the last 600 m in 40.7. No Value has not raced since winning the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Cup, and she should run in the money yet again in the Climatiser Manawatu Hunt Cup this week. Garabaldi has yet to win a race, but is consistent and gets another chance in the McEwen Steeples.

Mea Culpa went 1000 m in 1:6, the last 600 m in 40s. The Koiro Trelay filly was denied a start at Hawera when the races were abandoned, but is booked to make her debut in the Transporters Maiden.
