Perfect boots
PA Timaru An energetic young Puma loose forward, Pablo Di Nisio, loves his rugby boots. He says he would feel vulnerable on a rugby field without the wellworn size eight boots on his feet. “I have worn them for a long time,” he said, “in every important match I have played. “They are light and very comfortable, a perfect fit. They are my favourite boots.” Yesterday as training got under way the right boot gave out, the leather tearing open across the front. As it was being taped back together he was asked if he wanted a new pair. “No, no,” he exclaimed. “You must fix these. They are the boots that made me famous.” Di Nisio, aged 24, may have a achieved a certain amount of fame in Argentinian rugby circles, but he is virtually unknown on the international scene. He played his first test for Argentina against the All Blacks last Saturday, his tenacious pursuit of the ball and terrier-like style around the scrum attracting some attention. They are trademarks of his game, and have brought him two tries in four appearances on tour. He crossed the line in the tour-opener against North Auckland and in the third match against Auckland.
