A former world table tennis champion, Guo Yuehua, dazzled spectators with his wristy artistry in exhibition matches in Christchurch last evening. Guo hails from the People’s Republic of China, but is playing professional table tennis in West Germany. He was world singles champion in 1981 and 1983, and twice runner-up for the title. As well as sharing in several Chinese team honours, Guo also won 10 Asian championships and last week-end

carried off the North Island open title, beating one of his exhibition rivals of last evening, Peter Jackson (Auckland), in three straight games in the final. Jackson represented New Zealand in the Olympic Games last year. The third player in the exhibition series is Daniel Suchahak, a Czechoslovakian also competing in West Germany. > The exhibition tour will last for two weeks. The players’ next appearance will be in Timaru today.
