Chch to play Cashmere

The southern league division one soccer leader, Christchurch United, has drawn Cashmere Wanderers, of the second division, in the first round of the southern league knockout cup. The first round will be played on a home and away basis on August 19 and 26 apart from the Riccarton versus Burndale clash and the Green Island v. Mosgiel match.

They will be straight knockout games because those clubs have other fixtures and could not fit in two matches. The draw is:—St AlbansShirley v. Kaiapoi; University v. Ashburton; Riccarton v. Bumdale; Christchurch United v. Cashmere; Rangers v. Rangiora; Halswell United v. Technical; New Brighton v. High School Old Boys; Shamrock ' Westr - Bur- id '

v. -otem; Burwood v. Woolston; Oamaru v. South Canterbury; Green Island v. Mosgiel; Caversham v. Dunedin City. Ties in the following rounds of the competition, which is again drawn on a regional basis, will be single matches. The final is scheduled to be played at Dunedin on September 30. Away goals will count double in the first round.

Meanwhile, the Canterbury Football Association has announced that six Canterbury representative teams will be fielded this year with most games being played in September. '
