Erica Beuzenberg, a professional mountain guide for Alpine Recreation Canterbury, Ltd, reaching the top of Mount Cook on June 23 after a difficult ascent of the East Ridge. Ms Beuzenberg, of Lake Tekapo, is the first woman to have completed a mid-winter East Ridge ascent and grand traverse of Mount Cook, and only the third person over all.
