Bosma bounces back

Bosma, the winner of the third two-year-old race at Addington Raceway for the season before fracturing a pastern bone, was back in winning form at the Rangiora trials on Sunday. Driven by Robert Cameron for trainer, Leicester James, the Spring Romp colt beat two others easily in the Two-Year-Old heat over 2200 m in 2:59.4, the last 400 m in 31.25. Barrier trial winners over 2600 m were: Pardubice (CO mobile, 3:26.3), Star Kingdom (Cl and faster mobile, 3:32.3, last 400 m in 28.4), Lord Mancini (CO Pace, 3:31.4), Wynchingham Count (CO Pace, 3:36.5, last 800 m in 58.5), Blake’s Pride (CO Trot, 3:41.3), Remital (Cl and faster Pace, 3:42.1, last 400 m in 28.7), and Lovely Mood (Cl and faster trot, 3:34.1). Robert Cameron produced the fastest pacing qualifier, Twinkle Saint (4g Transport Chip — Lyndal Twinkle), which returned 3:13.7 with a length win over Manor Star (2g Noodlum — Miss Celebrity), the latter also gaining his ticket for Peter Jones with a time of 3:14.2. Equalizer (3g Lordship — Equality), a younger brother to Machismo in Greg Hope’s Weedons stable, was a one-length winner of his qualifying heat in 3:13.9 over Classy Rue (2g Plat du Jour — Flying Pidgeon) trained by W. Rowland, which returned 3:14.1. Perfect Guest (2g Plat du Jour — Gay Guest) won the other 2400 m/ pacers’ qualifying heat in 3:14.9 from Brian Kerr’s West Melton stable. Thora May (4m Grduand — Idone), trained by Jim Clark, qualified over 2600 m (stand) in 3:34.1, while the Peter Jonestrained Wise Pride (3f Game ride — Wise Legend), gained her ticket in the 2600 m mobile heat, returning 3:29.5. The pacing-bred, Julienna Jade (3f Nerd’s 8.8. — Jade), qualified as a trotter over 2400 m in 3:21.6 from lan Cameron’s Rangiora stable.
