Bus service
Sir, —I wonder how many women P. J. Nisbet (June 20) has seen behave in a “memsahib” manner while carrying a crying baby, a pushchair and a shopping bag while attempting to get off a bus in pouring rain. I would delight in having such magnificent composure in such
trying circumstances. My request for help from the driver was more of a harassed plea than a command in this particular incident and her reaction was offensive in anyone’s interpretation. I was, in fact, told to “do it yourself, you old bag!” In reply to Mr Habgood, I also have "travelled half the world” without too many problems. However, travelling with small children is altogether a different and rather more challenging experience, made most unpleasant when the most basic courtesies are not offered. — Yours, etc., (Mrs) S. M. HALL. June 23, 1989.
