Taxman helps fast drivers
NZPA Sydney Speedsters on Australian roads have been given financial help to evade police radars from an unexpected quarter — the taxman. Police and road safety bodies have attacked the Australian Taxation Office decision to allow drivers who use their vehicles for their jobs to claim tax breaks for depreciation on radar detectors fitted in the vehicles. The Federal Government will in effect now be helping those drivers break speeding laws.
