Transplant patient gets checked for rejection
The Christchurch heart and lung transplant patient, Mr Roger Manson, will have his first check up i for signs of rejection after surgery seven days ago.
His wife, Mrs Rae Manson, said from London last evening that doctors at Harefield Hospital would
examine the new heart tissue to make sure there was no sign of rejection. She did not expect Mr Manson to have any problems with the biopsy. “He is generally looking amazingly healthy now — quite a change from before the operation.” On Monday, Mr Manson
showed his determination by three minutes pedalling in an exercise programme run by physiotherapists. He still spoke only in a hoarse croak, but the doctors were pleased with his progress so far, said Mrs Manson.
