Cheeky match streaker fined
NZPA-PA Leeds A blonde streaker, Sheila Ford — who twice dashed on a test match pitch — was fined £5OO (SNZI3SI) yesterday. Massage parlour chief Ford, known to her friends as Goldie, ran onto the pitch at Headingley during England’s first test against Australia, wearing a skimpy teddy, stockings and suspenders. Leeds magistrates were told she unbuttoned her basque and raised her bottom to the crowd. Mr John Beckwith, prosecuting, said: “On her buttocks in large black letters were the words ’No tax’.” Ford was captured by security staff 30 metres inside the boundary. She said to the police: “I didn’t get very far, did I?” But three days later she struck again, this time wearing a red teddy, suspenders and fishnet stockings. The prosecutor said: “She made it about 20 yards, but there was another female running naked on the pitch and the crowd was in uproar.” Ford, aged 31, of Allerton Grange Vale, Leeds, admitted to two charges of disorderly conduct. Rodney Lester, defending, said Ford had been fined for running a brothel after which she received a tax demand for more than £6500 ($NZ17,567). He said: “She thinks this is grossly unfair and has found it very hard to swallow.”
