Permanent site for surgery

A $l.l million building to house the Christchurch after-hours surgery will open on October 1. For the last two years the surgery has occupied a temporary building at the rear of the site, at the corner of Bealey Avenue and Colombo Street.
The new building would provide greater space and reduce waiting times for patients, said the marketing director for the surgery, Dr David Langford. The five new consulting rooms and four treatment
rooms would have the latest equipment The surgery is a nonprofit co-operative, run and owned by 185 Christchurch general practitioners.
It is open 24 hours a day during week-ends and public holidays and from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., weekdays.
It will occupy only half of the building. In the other half will be the Urgent Pharmacy, which will move from New Regent Street.
