Appeal for cancer

The Canterbury-West-land division of the Cancer Society will make a mail appeal for funds this week. Last year’s collection provided half the salaries of two radiographers at Christchurch Hospital’s oncology department. The society’s division remained committed to

this, as well as Davidson House, which provided accommodation for cancer patients, the chief executive, Mr Frank Lowry, said. The division promoted various support groups and an education and cancer prevention programme in schools, he said. ■
