Blenheim judicial inquiries
Murdo, which broke shortly after the start and took little part in the Top Spot Restaurant Mobile Pace on the first day of the Marlborough Harness Racing Club’s meeting at Blenheim on Saturday has been declared ineligible to race for three months, until after September 23. Trevor Craddock, the trainer of Desert Chief, was fined $lOO for faulty gear when bandages came adrift on this runner in the Yaldhurst Hotel Trot.
An objection against the second placing being awarded to Shady Lord in the Top Spot Restaurant Pace was dismissed after it was established there had been a general tightening with 200 metres to run.
Dale’s World broke with 300 m to run in the Grove Tavern Mobile Pace, ran out, and checked Mister Lea, which dislodged driver Ricky May. May suffered a sprained thumb from the fall.
Reign Hi broke three times in the Marlborough Express Trot, he hit the running rail on the last occasion with 500 m to run, tipping Kevin Townley from the sulky. Townley was uninjured.
