$NZ climbs further
PA Wellington The New Zealand dollar closed a comparatively busy day 37 points up on its opening to finish at 5U50.5767/77. An early prediction that it could test the US5Bc level did not materialise, and the day’s high was 0.5785 as the unit traded in a 60-point range. The US5Bc level was still a
possibility, however, and people would be looking to that today, the dealer said. On the cross rates at today’s close the kiwi was steady against the Australian dollar at Aust76.loc, a level to which it firmed soon after its lower opening of 75.84 c. tn Sydney at noon the Australian currency had
eased against the kiwi to 5NZ1.3133/58 from its opening there of $NZ1.3161/90. On the cross rates against other major currencies at the close the kiwi was quoted at 1.14 marks, 37.50 pence, 83.60 yen and 0.9934 Swiss francs. The Reserve Bank tradeweighted index closed higher at 60.7
