Staff are experts

Any company is only as good as its staff and the Christchurch Commercial Vehicle Centre has two men with an outstanding work history with Nissan diesel. Sales manager, Dave Swann, has 21 years experience in the industry, the last five associated with Nissan Diesel. Geoff McDermott is the Parts and Service Manager with 39 years experience to call upon, 19 with Commercial Vehicle Centre and Nissan diesel. Dave Swann said that the future of the company in Christchurch was extremely exciting. “We have an outstanding site in Blenheim Road near Matipo Street, a location that has nearly always been a trucking centre. “While we are known for our association with Nissan, that does not mean we will restrict ourselves solely to servicing, selling and supplying parts for Nissan diesel trucks alone. “We have the expertise

to take on general servicing right across the board for commercial and leisure vehicles such as four-wheel drive,” he said. Nissan diesel has recently sold its 2000th truck in New Zealand. When the vehicles were first introduced in the mid 1960 s they did not find immediate acceptance, having to fight a market dominated by English and American vehicles. That has all changed in the last 20 years to the point that last year Nissan was one of only two truck companies to increase its market share in this country.

“With the recent downturn in the New Zealand economy and the drought in Canterbury the transport industry has been hard hit. However, we are a keen company optimistic of what lies ahead. ‘“We offer a 24-hour service and we are looking to grow as the Canterbury economy grows. The next 18 months should be exciting,” Mr Swann said.
