S.I. Chemicals’ plans

South Island Chemicals planned to open warehouses in Auckland, Hamilton and Palmerston North, said Mr John Nichol, the managing director of the parent company, Broadway Industries, the listed Christchurch-based investment group. It was announced on Monday that South Island Chemicals had paid $1.4 million for the Stevens KMS subsidiary, Norton Griffith Veterinary Supplies. Mr Nichol told the Stock Exchange yesterday that most of Norton Griffith’s staff would be retained. The deal is subject to Commerce Commission approval, and Mr Nichol said that the cash consideration was subject to changes in inventory.
