Futuristic Honda stepping out as production model

The futuristic Honda NS-X, launched in prototype form at the Chicago Motor Show in February, will go on sale in the United States within weeks as a production model.
The mid-engined rear-wheel-driven coupe incorporates newly designed all-alum-inium four-wheel double-wish-bone suspension and an allaluminium body of high
rigidity. The NS-X, powered by a three-litre V 6 engine developing more than 186 kW, is capable of more than 250km/h.
It has an all-up weight of only 1300 kg. In the meantime, Honda continues to deny the existence of a 20-valve, five-cylin-der engine said by people professing to be “in the know,” to be due to go into a new Honda Accord.
This engine comprises nait
a VlO power unit, which is said to be slated for a supercar version of the Honda Legend.
It is to be hoped that I’ll be able to check out the rumours and test drive the NS-X in the course of a preview of Honda’s coming cars in Japan when, at the invitation of Honda New Zealand, I visit the Tokyo Motor Show and watch the Japanese Grand Prix later this year.
