Winter exodus for Ministers

PA Wellington The Associate Minister of Finance, Mr Neilson, will be one of many Cabinet Ministers overseas during the six-week parliamentary recess. Mr Neilson will attend Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development talks in Paris tomorrow and Thursday on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Mr Caygill. Then he will travel to Frankfurt, London and New York for meetings with financial institutions, public pension fund agencies and disaster re-insur-ers.

Colleagues also to work overseas during the recess, starting on June 2, include the Prime Minister, Mr Lange (Kiribati); the Minister of Forestry, Mr Tapsell (Sweden, Finland, United Kingdom),

Canada, China, United States; the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Mr Rodger (Geneva); the Minister of Tourism, Mr Hunt (Japan, West Germany, Norway, England, Ireland); the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mrs Shields (Spain, Britain, Israel, New York); the Minister of Energy, Mr Butcher (Paris); the Minister of Disarmament and Arms Control, Ms Wilde (Sweden, Norway, Geneva); the Speaker, Mr Burke (Canada, Washington, New York, Argentina); and the Minister of Defence, Mr Tizard (Malaysia). The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Bolger, will head to Europe. The Associate Minister of Education, Mr Goff, arrived in China yesterday, having already visited South Korea and Japan.
