Discharge before trial

A man who was to have faced trial by jury in the District Court on three charges of indecently assaulting a girl, aged nine, was discharged after Judge Buckton directed that no indictment be presented. The discharge was made after the Judge heard submissions by counsel, Mr Brian Callaghan. The defendant was granted final suppression of his name. Mr David Saunders appeared for the Crown. The charges related to February to August, 1987.
