Southern Business Expo

THe seventh Annual Southern Business Expo at the Christchurch Town Hall is open to visitors today, tomorrow and on Thursday. On display will be a wide spectrum of the latest technology and ideas for business in the 19905.

Another series of topical free seminars, to be presented by Mcllroy-Kelly Associates will be run in the Cambridge Room of the Town Hall on the three show days. The exposition will focus on the “Business Horizons of 1990” — business efficiency, and the use of cost-effective products, systems, and methods for the administration, operation and management of companies and organisations. New Zealand business has faced many changes over the last year and this new theme has been introduced in accordance with those changes.

These business horizons which have a direct impact on every business and organisation will reflect the modern business environment:'

O Office 1990 will present a comprehensive array of the latest products in office equipment and systems to best serve the needs of information technology. As well as the regulation office equipment such as photocopiers, computers and software, typewriters, filing systems, security and communications systems, the display will also showcase the latest trends and development in space management, decor, commercial interior design, and furniture. & Business Services and Learning ’B9 will focus on the rapidly expanding service industries and the growing need for re-training, motivation and education at all levels — management ser-

vices and consultancies; training programmes and education; insurance; catering and refreshments; promotional videos; travel and conference services; information resources for business; time management, personnel consultants. Seminars have been immensely popular at recent shows; this year, they will concentrate on small business.

The first day will look at starting a business, sources of finance, and staff training and motivation.

On day two, the emphasis will shift to tax strategies for small businesses, dealing with landlords, and the art of creating and retaining customers.

The final day’s sessions will deal with getting the best out of accountants, handling financial emergencies, and capitalising on residential pro-

perty. No bookings are necessary for the seminars, which will start in the Cambridge Room at 11 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m. each day. There will be no shortage of knowhow in the organisation of the three-day Southern Business Expo. ’B9 in the Christchurch Town Hall from Tuesday, May 23, to Thursday, May 25.
