Tuapeka Knight lost his second New Zealand two-yeara-old pacers’ record within five days when The Unicorn posted 1:57.8 for one mile in the CIGNA Sires’ Stakes Heat at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting on Wednesday. This was 0.2 s inside Tuapeka Knight’s old record.
The Unicorn bolted clear from the trail, to win by three and a half lengths from Western Legacy his fourth win in his last five starts. The leaders ran their last 800 m in 59.25.
