Order made for passports
Two men facing drug charges were ordered to surrender their passports to the police as a condition of being granted bail.
Kelvin James Anderson, aged 37 (Mr A. J. Davis), and Terry Ivan Ormandy, aged 40 (Mr Tony Garrett), both unemployed, were remanded by Judge Costigan to May 24. Both men, who appeared in the District Court yesterday, were also ordered to report twice weekly to the police and to observe a residential curfew. Anderson is charged with permitting premises in Wildwood Avenue to be used for the commission of an offence against the Misuse of Drugs Act. He is jointly charged with Ormandy of possessing cannabis for sale or supply. TRIAL SOUGHT A man facing charges of aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery was remanded in custody to May 24 for a predepositions hearing. Kiro Hemopo, aged 28, a freezing worker (Mr Andrew Mclntosh), is charged with two other men with breaking and entering a house in Tancred Street while armed with a baseball bat and a
sledgehammer, that while armed caused grievous bodily harm to Edward Mohi Huria, and robbed him of $2BBO in cash. It is alleged that the three offences took place on March 20. CHARGES DENIED Charges of cultivating cannabis, possessing the drug for sale or supply, and possessing utensils for use in the commission of an offence against the Misuse of Drugs Act, were denied by a man, aged 34. Robert John Spicer, a solo parent (Mr Philip Hall), is charged with committing the offences on May 10. He was remanded to June 20 for a defended hearing. (BEFORE JUDGE FRAMPTON) COMMUNITY SERVICE A young man who cannibalised a neighbour’s Land Rover to get parts for his own was sentenced to carry out 150 hours of community service. Richard James Hoare, aged 17, a technical assistant (Mr Nick Rout), removed parts from the vehicle after it had been dumped at McLean’s Island after being stolen from outside the owner’s Hackthorne Road address on December 12,
