Gunmen seize two Germans
NZPA-Reuter Beirut Gunmen have kidnapped two West Germans in south Lebanon. Security sources said about 10 gunmen seized Heinrich Struebig, aged 48, Petra Schnitzler, aged 26, and a colleague identified only as “Thomas”
from the West German ASME Humanitas Relief Agency as they drove through the port of Sidon yesterday. Ms Schnitzler, a nurse, was freed an hour later south-east of Sidon at the headquarters of the Islamic Grouping, a coalition of pro-Iranian
Muslim fundamentalists. Mr Struebig and Ms Schnitzler were both kidnapped and released earlier this month and first reports yesterday said their fellow victim on that occasion, Marcus Quint, had again been kidnapped but this turned out not to be true.
