TVNZ angers Scot

PA Rotorua A Scot-born Rotorua man has accused Television New Zealand of degrading New Zealand’s Scottish inhabitants by not televising the Scottish Football Association Cup soccer final live. Mr lan Gorman has asked the Race Relations Conciliator to investigate the matter. He believes TVNZ broke a promise to show

the Scottish final and “deceived the ethnically degraded’’ Scottish people in New Zealand. A wrangle over television rights to screen the English F.A. Cup final involved TVNZ and TV3, which had the broadcasting rights, but no television network to play it on. TV3 wanted to buy air time from TVNZ and TVNZ wanted to buy the

rights from TV3. No compromise was reached and TVNZ announced it would screen the Scottish final in place of the English final. But in subsequent negotiations, TV3 offered the broadcasting rights to screen the English final to TVNZ with the proviso that TVNZ acknowledge the TV3 action.
