ANIMAL FIBRE PHYSIOLOGIST MAFTech wishes to appoint a person with biochemistry training applicable to animal fibre, to be based at the Canterbury Agriculture and Science Centre, Lincoln. In response to the growing world market demand for natural fibres, research into the staple strength of wool is being undertaken by MAFTech in close cooperation with the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand and Lincoln College. The programme aims to expand the understanding of biochemical differences between the selected lines with a view to the possible development of DNA probes for direct selection purposes. The basis of the programme will be MAFTech’s flock which has been specially selected for its staple strength. The successful applicant must as a minimum have, an honours degree with a biochemistry emphasis. The opportunity exists to negotiate an attractive salary package based on qualifications and experience with the additional possibility (if necessary) of registering for Ph.D.study whilst employed on the programme.
