APPOINTMENT 1F oi Mr Wayne Makeig, of Wellington, has been appointed Deputy Chairman of Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited, it was announced today by Chairman and Managing Director, MrS.D. Pryor. Mr Makeig (57), was born and educated in Canterbury, is currently Mobil’s Planning and Joint Ventures Director, a position he had held since 1987. He has been a director of the company since 1974. Last year Mr Makeig was chairman of the New Zealand Refining Company, where he has been a director for 14 years. He has been a director of the New Zealand Synthetic Fuels Corporation since the project’s formation in 1980. Mr Makeig has been with Mobil for 27 years. He has held a variety of positions in sales and planning, including assignments with Mobil Oil Australia and Mobil Headquarters in New York. Before joining Mobil, Mr Makeig spent nine years in the Merchant Navy, where he held the rank of Second Officer with Port Line Ltd.
