EXECUTIVE OFFICER BROADCASTING STANDARDS AUTHORITY The establishment of the Broadcasting Standards Authority is provided for in the Broadcasting Bill, which is at present before Parliament. The role of the Authority is to: • Encourage the development and observance of codes of broadcasting practice and where appropriate issue such codes. • Receive, consider and determine complaints against broadcasters. • Provide advisory opinions on broadcasting standards issues. Applications are invited for the position of Executive Officer of the Authority. The Executive Officer will be responsible for the establishment and ongoing management of the Authority. The position reports to the Chairperson of the Authority’s Board. The successful applicant is likely to have a proven record of achievement in administrative positions, and work well in a small team environment. A high standard in written and verbal communications skills is also essential as the appointee will need to communicate clearly, concisely and tactfully with the media and with sectors of the public. Applications for the above position will be welcomed from suitably qualified applicants irrespective of race, nationality or gender. The appointment will be made by the Broadcasting Standards Authority soon after its formal establishment, which is expected to be in late May.
