News profit up 8.9%
NZPA-Reuter Adelaide Rupert Murdoch’s international media group, News Corporation, said group trading profits were strong in the United States, Australia and Hong Kong in the nine months to March 31. News Corp reported equity-accounted net profit rose 8.9 per cent to sAust3l2.l3 million (SNZ39S.IM) in the period
from sAust2B6.6BM (SNZ362.BM) a year earlier as turnover rose 24.8 per cent to sAusts.s4 billion. In its profit statement News Corp focused on trading earnings before interest and tax (EBIT). Total EBIT rose 38.5 per cent to sAust9B2.32 million from sAust7o9.4 million a year earlier.
