Singer- songwriter in concert

Danielle Wood will play original compositions for piano and voice at 8 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Arts Centre on May 25. Woods says her work combines a jazz improvisatory style with lyrical vocal lines; the songs speak of emotional growth, change, imagination, sensuality and fantasy.

Wood has just completed a Masters degree

in musical composition. In 1987 she gained her L.R.S.M. performer’s diploma in piano. Although classically trained, she has developed a strong interest in jazz and alternative music, aiming to create a distinctive style of her own. Major influences on her work have been Keith Jarrett’s piano improvisations and Kate Bush’s unique vocal style.
