Swimmer to wed
NZPA-AAP Sydney One of Australia’s golden girls of swimming, Michelle Ford, will be married in July — to Switzerland s head karate coach. Ford, aged 26, the Olympic 800 m freestyle gold medallist in Moscow nine years ago, met Christian Erikkson, aged 31, two years ago while she was working with the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland. They hope to settle in Sydney — as long as Erikkson, who has expertise in computers and energy systems, can find a suitable job. Ford s international career began in 1976 when, at 14, she swam at the Montreal Olympic Games.
