TABLE TENNIS Karl Entwistle won the under 21 boys’ singles at the Canterbury open junior table tennis tournament in Christchurch on Sunday. Entwistle coasted to the final where he beat the third seed, Anthony Sandford, 2112, 21-11. Lisa Astle won the under 21 girls’ round robin, with good wins against the Canterbury senior representatives, Joanne Fisher and Karen Hines. But in the under 17 girls’ final she lost to Lisa Palmer in a close threesetter. A premier grade player, Brent Maitland, won the under 15 boys’ singles, beating Daniel Astle in the final, but in the under 17 boys’ singles Maitland was beaten in an upset by Jason Sennitt in the semi-final, leaving the

way clear for Astle to take the title by beating Sennitt. Results: —Boys
