Breeders’ president steps down

PA Wellington Ted Howarth is to step down as president of the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association to take up a position with the Racing Conference. The Waikanae studmaster has been president of the Breeders’ Association for the last five years, overseeing the relocation of Wrightson Bloodstock’s National Sale to Karaka and the inauguration of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale at Trentham.

He will stand down from the position at the annual general meeting of the association in July. Nominations for the presidency close shortly, and votes will be cast for his successor in June. Mr Howarth, who is proprietor of Woodleigh Stud where Godavari and Ashabit stand, will represent the Wellington district on the executive of the Racing Conference.
