Changi travellers to be wooed by lucky draws

Singapore’s Changi Airport, voted world’s best by business travellers in a 1988 survey, has launched its second annual “Changi Connection” promotion for transit and transfer passengers. The promotion will run for 12 months until April 30, 1990, providing gifts and lucky draw prizes for passengers who make repeated transfers through Changi Airport. Using boarding passes or transit cards, passengers can register at Changi Connection counters in the department/transit lounge, where their details will be logged into a computer. A second-transit passenger will receive a Sharp calculator, a fourth transit a Wilson sports bag, a sixth visit a hand-crafted leather Lanvin passport holder. Eighth and tenth transits will entitle passengers to gold Shaeffer pens and Lanvin wallets respectively. On registration of their names, passengers immediately receive lucky draw coupons and hotel and shopping discount vouchers. This is repeated on reregistration. The grand lucky draw will be held on August 1, 1990, three months after the promotion closes. The four major prizes are: • A Mazda 929 or Mazda 323 4-door sedan, delivered to the winner’s country of residence inclusive of duties and registration. • A return ticket to Singapore on Singapore Airlines. • A SSIOOO shopping gift cheque. • Four free nights at a deluxe hotel in Singapore from the Singapore Hotel Association. The scheme is designed to promote Singapore as a major Asia-Pacific air hub and to boost its tourism industry. Fifty international airlines serve Changi with 1600 flights a week to 104 cities in 54 countries.
