Campaign against Lange criticised
The Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mrs Shields, entered the Labour Party leadership debate in a speech to a - Labour Party women’s policy conference in Wellington last evening. She criticised by implication the campaign against the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, by the former Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas. Women members of the Government did not pursue tactics such as launching “out and out campaigns against each other,” she said.
“If we do, then we’re not only being the Government, we’re being the Opposition as well. “It sort of gives, a new meaning to the expression 'double burden’.”
