Applications close May 26, 1989. SPECIALIST ANAESTHETIST A full-time appointment, with the appointee being expected to be able to work In both the anaesthetic field and the Intensive Care Unit. The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care has an establishment for 11 Specialist Anaesthetists, 4 Registrars and 3 Senior House Officers. The Department provides services for General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Dental Surgery, Pain Clinic, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (including epidural anaesthetics), Radiology and CT scanning, Cardioversion and Intensive Care. The current establishment for house surgeons is 33 and there are 27 registrar and 5 senior house officer posts. Palmerston North city is centrally located, only two hours by road from Wellington and three hours from Lake Taupo and the ski fields at Mount Ruapehu. The city Is well provided with cultural and sporting facilities.
