Kiwi fillies to dominate
The New Zealand-trained fillies Bon Cher and Heavenly Body are expected to be hardest to beat in the sAustl6o,ooo South Australian Oaks at Morphettville today.
Bon Cher represents the O’Sullivan stable of Matamata and Heavenly Body the stable of Mike Moroney, who formerly trained in partnership with Dave and Paul O’Sullivan. Bon Cher is from a half sister to the outstanding galloper Grosvenor, and by his sire Sir Tristram, while Heavenly Body is by Grosvenor. Both fillies will be ridden by New Zealand jockeys, Bon Cher by Grant Davison from Riccarton and Heavenly Body by Jim Collet, the formerly Gore-based horseman now resident in Auckland.
Bon Cher has been impressive in her autumn campaign though she has not raced now for six weeks since winning a
double at 2000 m at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Easter meeting. Heavenly Body has more recent seasoning and has probably shown more speed in her racing to date than her close rival.
