Sex suspects called in
By
BARRY CLARKE
The police have interviewed 30 suspects in the hunt for a man believed to be responsible for several sex attacks in Christchurch. The suspects either resembled the man who raped two women in Linwood two months ago, or had histories of sex offending, Detective Roy Mitchell said yesterday. The offender might also be responsible for attacks in Beckenham and Dailington, and possibly, two rapes in
St Albans last year. Detective Mitchell said not all of the suspects interviewed had been eliminated. “We have to check out some of the alibis of where they were on the nights concerned,” he said. “Inquiries are continuing.” The police are appealing for the public to come forward with information. The offender is described as a Maori or Polynesian, aged about 25, 167 cm tall, of medium build, with a black moustache.
