Three losses in boxing
Only the novice heavyweight, Jason Perreau, was successful of the four Canterbury amateur boxers who competed at Upper Hutt on Friday evening. Perreau was a unanimous points winner at the expense of D. Leafa (Heretaunga). The other Canterbury boxers, from Peter Bell’s
gymnasium, had less memorable tournaments. Greg Bell lost on points to the impressive Trentham soldier, Nigel Anderson, and Darryl Gordon conceded a similar result to M. Carson (Heretaunga). Royce Ellis did not last the distance against Tala Ululelata (Riverside), the referee stopping the contest in the second round.
