Motels burgled Cash and goods to the value of $2OOO were stolen from one of two motels burgled in Roydvale Avenue, Burnside, early yesterday. The offender took $320 from three units at the Airport Gateway Motor Lodge about 2.30 a.m. and a leather jacket, valued at $l3OO, and other items from a vehicle in the car-park. The same man is believed to have broken into a unit at the Aarburg Motel about two hours earlier. He was disturbed by the occupants, said Senior-Sergeant Dick Pettet, of the Papanui police. Retailer in Sydenham Williams White Dove, Ltd, which was ordered to be wound up by Master Hansen in the High Court on Monday, was incorrectly reported in yesterday’s edition of “The Press” as having an Upper Riccarton branch. The company’s only appliance retail outlet is in Sydenham. Body identified The badly-burned body of a man, found in a Gisborne panel-beater’s shop early on Wednesday, has been identified by the police. He was Ashley Ronald Scott, aged 41. Mr Scott was the owner of the shop. His body was found in the living quarters of the building, which was gutted in the fire.—PA. Judge to retire A special sitting of the Court of Appeal at Wellington will be held today to mark the retirement of one of its judges, Sir Duncan McMullin, aged 61. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court in 1970 and to the Court of Appeal in 1979. Speakers at the sitting will include the Solicitor-General, Mr Paul Neazor, Q.C., the president of the Law Society, Mr Graham Cowley, and the president of the Wellington District Law Society, Ms Sandra Moran. —PA.
