Austrian faces charges

of NZPA in London A man charged with the murder of a New Zealander whose body has not been found will appear in court in the Irish republic early next month to fix a date for his trial. Austrian born William Diemling, aged 40, accused of murdering and falsely imprisoning Gregor “Jack” Evans will go before a judge of the Dublin Central Criminal Court on May 10. The trial is expected to take place in June or July. Diemling has been in custody since his arrest last year after the disappearance Som his home near Bantry in County >rk of Mr Evans, aged-46. Mr Evans, originallv from Timaru, had
lived in the republic working as an antique furniture dealer for about 10 years. He was reported missing from his home by neighbours in July last year and despite a countrywide search his body has not been found. His friends believe that Mr Evans was killed in an argument over a property deal and his body dumped at sea. A second man, Barry Unsworth, aged 30, from England, who is charged with assaulting and falsely imprisoning Mr Evans, is due to appear in Bantry District Court tomorrow when he is expected to be committed for trial in Cork. He has beeny'on bail since soon after his arrest last 5 year.
