Show makes dreams come true

PA Wellington Being sawn in half by a magician or making breakfast for the Prime Minister may not be everyone’s idea of fun but for two youngsters the opportunity was a dream come true. The "Mirinda Makes It Happen” slot on the children’s programme “What Now,” on One on Saturday mornings has seen hundreds of children write to the programme in the hope that their wish may be granted. Since the 39-pro-gramme series began this month, granted wishes have included those of a 14-year old Masterton girl who made breakfast for Prime Minister David Lange; a seven-year-old Christchurch boy who went on boardConcorde when it was in the country recently and a 12-year-old girl from Ashburton who went on. a hydrosliding adventure. All sorts of bizarre wishes have been received, including a boy who wants nothing more in the world but to play ice hockey, a child who desperately wants to bungi jump and someone who wants to fly a Tiger Moth aircraft. The Pepsi-Cola sponsored series runs until December 23.
