PA Hastings An elderly man was killed at the central-city railway crossing in Hastings on Monday after he apparently walked into the path of a shunting engine, the police said. The accident happened about 11 a.m. The man’s name has not been released by the police. Onlookers said the crossing bells were ringing and barrier arms were down at the time. The man either ducked under the arms or walked round them on to the track. The impact flung the man about 20m.
