Man shot when siphoning petrol
PA Auckland The police say a gang member was shot last evening by a Papakura homeowner who saw two men siphoning petrol from a car. The middle-aged homeowner allegedly fired shots at the pair and one of the gang members, believed to have suffered serious injuries to his upper body, was taken to Middlemore Hospital. Detective Inspector Kel-
vin McMinn said the injured man was expected to recover. The man’s associate was unhurt. Mr McMinn said he did not expect retaliation from the gang, which he refused to name. He said minor criminal charges might be laid against the two gang members. A 50-year-old man was being interviewed last evening but the police had laid no charge against him.
