Devoy beat Opie
PA London Susan Devoy completed a momentous week when she defeated Lisa Opie to give the Rest of the World victory over Guernsey in a special challenge event in St Peters Port, Guernsey, at the week-end. With Martine Le Moignan beating Australian Liz Irving, the second match of the series ended 1-1. But with the Australasians winning the first, 2-0, they took the £5OOO ($NZ13,974) prize. The New Zealander dropped the first game 9-7 to the world ranked No. 2 Opie, playing for her native Guernsey, but bounced back to win the next three 9-2, 9-4, 10-8. Le Moignan, who lost to Devoy in the British Open last week, squared things by beating Irving 9-1, 9-5, 10-8.
