Feltrax sells printer

PA Wellington Feltrax International, Ltd, has sold its printing subsidiary to the privatelyowned Auckland company, Mirage Printing Group, Ltd, for an undisclosed sum. Feltrax’s secretary, Mr Noel Vautier, said Feltex Printing was set up to meet the group’s international printing requirements but had grown over the years to provide a high-quality printing service to a number of external clients.

Mirage’s managing director, Mr John Hotchin, said some Feltex equipment, including a computer controlled Heidelberg four-colour press, and eight staff

had been absorbed into Mirage’s existing operation. Mirage had a growing presence in the colour printing market after buying Penrose Printing and the assets of Contact Graphics in the last six months, he said.

Mirage was taking advantage of rationalisation opportunities in the printing industry which had seen 18 fourcolour machines sold out of New Zealand so far this year, Mr Hotchin said. He said none pf Mirage’s plant was more than five years old and it would take a more aggressive position in the competitive colour printing market.
