One of New Zealand’s leading Formula Ford drivers, Chris Hyde, of Christchurch, is launched into a roll after riding over another car in a reverse grid Formula Ford race at Ruapuna Park Raceway on April 16. Hyde was taken to hospital with crushed vertebrae, a hairline fracture to the skull, and leg and arm injuries. The 19-year-old had earlier set a new class lap record.
