PATRICK NEARY.
April 17, 1989. Sir,—ln my opinion, the decay of the ozone layer is more of a threat to life as we know it than cigarette smoking, so is it not therefore logical that products containing chlorofluorocarbons are banned from television advertising, just as cigarettes are? Many people are unaware of common household products containing C.F.C.s and I think that the advertisements should at least display a warning to acknowledge the presence of such harmful chemicals. This prospect may prompt companies to find alternatives to C.F.C.s rather than risk a loss in profit. Thus we are one step closer to protecting our precious ozone layer.— Yours, etc., DEBORAH WALDRON. April 19, 1989.
