Sport Wellington beats A.C.T.
NZPA-AAP Canberra An injury to the second rower, Marc Verhoeven, took the gloss off Wellington’s 2821 win over Australian Capital Territory at Seiffert Oval, Qiieanbeyan, yesterday. The tourists may have to fly in a replacement for Verhoeven for Saturday’s South Pacific Championship match against Fiji in Suva.
The Wellington coach, Alan Muir, said Verhoeven appeared to have badly twisted his left knee. Wellington 28 (Peter O’Shaughnessy, Dennis Tocker, tries; Peter O’Shaughnessy, conversion, 4 penalty goals; John Gallagher, 2 penalty goals) A.C.T. 21 (Graham Reed, Jim Taylor, tries; Andrew Friend, 2 conversions, 3 penalty goals).
