Milk in bottles saves $80 p.a.
Canterbury people could save themselves $BO a year by buying milk in bottles instead of cartons, according to the Canterbury Milk Vendors’ Association. The saving was based on a rough estimate that people bought two bottles of milk a day, the equivalent of a 1.5 litre carton. The secretary of the association, Mr lan Murray, said that in spite of North Island discussions about the phasing out of bottles, Canterbury people could rest assured they would remain here for a long time. The region’s milk vendors have launched a twoweek promotion to advise consumers that bottles are the most economical way of buying milk.
Mr Murray believes that the strength of the home delivery in Canterbury is one of the reasons bottled milk is still selling well,
