Knitting up a storm

Marjorie Weaver has been knitting up a storm for her annual exhibition at the Gefn crafts co-operative which opens on April 22.

Weaver has been designing and producing knitwear for the past three years, selling exclusively from Gefn. This year she has designed a series of jerseys inspired by the stormy colours of land, seas and skies in winter. Dramatic, sultry and carefully toned sweeps of colour form the central panels, with backgrounds of grape or bottle green, black, navy or deep blue.

Weaver knits each garment herself. “Keeping in mind body flattering design and use of colour, I think of each of these garments as a work of art,” she says.

The exhibition runs until May 6.
